This Hua Hin travel guide is for travelers who want the Gulf of Thailand at an unhurried pace: a royal seaside town three hours from Bangkok, with grand old railway-era hotels, night markets, vineyards, golf, serious spas and one of the most polished Indian tables in the country. You’ll find where to stay, what to eat, how to move around and what things cost in baht and dollars.
Prices last updated October 2026. Figures use roughly 33.7 baht to 1 US dollar. Rates move with the season and the exchange rate, so treat every number here as a guide and let the official hotel, restaurant and transport sites have the final word.

When to go
Dry, sunny weather runs from late November through mid-April. December and February are the comfortable heart of it, with highs around 86 to 90°F (30 to 32°C) and low humidity. Late January and February are the calmest weeks on the sand.
The green season, roughly June to October, brings lush hills, quick afternoon showers and softer room rates. October is the wettest month, with rain on about a third of days, easing noticeably by mid-November. Summer school holidays are lively, so book beachfront rooms early.
Where to stay
Stay near the clock tower and beach if you want to walk to the night market and the station. Head south toward Khao Takiab for quieter shoreline and resort grounds. Hua Hin Hills, inland, suits a countryside night or two.
- Chiva-Som: the destination wellness resort that draws longevity-minded travelers from around the world. Listed rates start around $1,200 (about 40,000 baht) a night for a Deluxe room.
- Devasom Hua Hin Resort: from about $196 (roughly 6,600 baht) a night for a polished five-star stay.
- Anantara Hua Hin Resort: the brand’s own Deluxe Pool Access Room starts at 5,500 baht (about $163) a night, plus 10% service charge and 7% tax, with daily breakfast for two.
- Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas: the grande dame. The site began as the Railway Hotel in 1922, and the expansive gardens sit a short walk from both the beach and the center. Rooms start around $110 (about 3,700 baht), with typical weeknight rates nearer $160 (about 5,400 baht).
- Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa: from about $85 (roughly 2,900 baht) a night, a comfortable full-service base.
- Amari Hua Hin: from about $59 (around 2,000 baht), a gentle entry point for smaller budgets.
These are the lowest listed nightly rates for late October 2026; peak weeks and weekends cost more.
Where to eat and drink
Start with the specialties. Grilled squid on a stick runs 60 to 100 baht ($2 to $3), pork satay about 60 baht for ten sticks, a mussel omelette around 80 baht and pad thai 60 to 80 baht. A large Chang beer is about 70 baht. These are market prices; restaurants cost more.
Mukti deserves a reservation. Set in Hin Lek Fai, a short drive from the center (86 Moo 14), this Indian restaurant and bar cooks with a modern, refined hand: curries, tandoor grills, street-food plates and sweets, with house spice blends and local ingredients woven through traditional technique. The kitchen is led by Sid Karmakar, trained at Le Cordon Bleu Melbourne, alongside executive chef Hari, whose experience includes five-star hotels in Northern India. Diners praise the lamb rogan josh, samosa chaat, dahi puri, murgh makhani and lamb dum biryani, and a kulfi to finish.
It’s open Tuesday to Friday 5:00 to 10:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 10:30 pm, closed Mondays. One recent diner reported about 3,000 baht ($89) for a table of four with drinks, roughly 750 baht ($22) a head. Reserve through muktihuahin.com or WhatsApp +66 92 459 6067.
Seafood is the other great pleasure. The Chatchai Market, a nine-minute walk from the fishing pier, opens 5 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday and from 3:30 am on Sundays. Go in the morning, when the catch is freshest, bring cash, and negotiate warmly. At the night market, lobster is about 1,500 to 1,700 baht a kilo ($45 to $50) and tiger prawns 600 to 900 baht. Confirm the weight, cooking fee and total before anything reaches the grill.
What to see and do
The beach. Hua Hin’s long, shallow shoreline is ideal for morning walks, with kite and windsurfing along the coast toward Pran Buri.
Railway Station. The Southern Railway reached Hua Hin in 1911. The station’s royal pavilion and its preserved steam engine make a fine photo stop, and it’s a short stroll from the center.
Hua Hin night market. Dechanuchit Road, about five minutes on foot from the clock tower, opens around 4 pm and runs until about 11 pm. Arrive near 6 pm for the best of the food carts in the middle of the road.
Cicada Market. Open Friday to Sunday, 4 to 11 pm, about seven kilometers south under casuarina trees. Entry is free. Art, ceramics, silver and linen run 200 to 2,000 baht, and food dishes 80 to 150 baht using a coupon system. A green songthaew from the clock tower costs 10 to 15 baht; a ride-hailing car back is about 100 to 150 baht ($3 to $4.50).
Khao Takiab. Roughly 100 steps climb to a temple and Buddha with sweeping coast views. Carry a sarong or borrow one for a small donation, and keep snacks tucked in a bag, as the resident monkeys are curious.
Vineyards and Hua Hin Hills. About 45 kilometers inland, the Monsoon Valley label is known for Shiraz and Colombard. Full vineyard tours start from around 1,500 baht ($45) including transport, wine and a three-course meal. A shuttle from the wine cellar store costs 300 baht ($9) return.
Golf. King Rama VI commissioned Thailand’s first course here in 1922, and the town has about a dozen championship courses. Green fees run roughly 1,500 to 4,500 baht ($45 to $135) by course and season.
Spas and wellness. Most major resorts have full-service spas, and Chiva-Som anchors the town’s wellness reputation. Book treatments through your hotel, ideally a day ahead.

Practical tips
Tipping is appreciated rather than required; rounding up a fare or leaving small change is a kind gesture. Dress modestly for temples, shoulders and knees covered. Most visitors can enter Thailand visa-free for short stays, but rules differ by passport, so confirm with the Thai embassy before booking. Carry water in summer, and carry cash for markets.
